Belgium Waffles
Easy Waffles Recipe
Buttermilk makes the waffles tastier and less floury (we found out by accident when we ran out of milk) but you may use regular milk as well. If using butter milk powder, dissolve 1 tbsp buttermilk powder in 200ml hot water. Allow buttermilk to cool slightly before adding to the batter.
Ingredients:
(A) Dry Ingredients
- 125 grams unbleached, all-purpose or plain flour
- 1/2 tbsp white sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/8 tsp salt
(B) Wet Ingredients
- 1 large egg (60 grams) well beaten with a fork or whisk
- 200 ml butter milk (may substitute with regular milk)
- 60 ml olive or vegetable oil
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
Serving Suggestions
- maple syrup
- butter
Others
- non-stick cooking spray (or greased pastry brush)
- waffle maker
Directions:
- In a large bowl, add (A) and stir well with a whisk.
- Add in (B). Whisk until the batter is just smooth.
- Preheat waffle iron to desired heat setting.
- Spray preheated waffle iron with non-stick cooking spray. Pour waffle batter onto hot waffle iron. Cook until golden brown. Serve hot with maple syrup and butter.
Noob Cook Note
I used buttermilk powder purchased from Iherb.com (use my affliate link WIF026 to save up to $10 for first order).

Seeing your waffle make me want to buy a waffle iron…looks delicious Wiffy.
Enjoy the rest of your week :D
Mmmm looks so good!!! Can’t wait to try it! Thanks for the recipe :) Can I check if there was a typo and that the recipe should use 200ml instead of 100ml of buttermilk? Thank you!
Yes 200ml! Sorry for the typo, I have amended. Thanks for alerting me to it (^。^)
Hi. Thanks for the recipe. Where can we purchase buttermilk besides iherb?
You can try Cold Storage or Phoon Huat, I think they sell the fresh milk form :)
Ok thanks!
I am interested to get the same waffle maker. Do you need to get an additional adapter or transmitter in order to use the waffle maker in Sg? Noted that the voltage requirement is different in Korea…
The voltage in SG and South Korea is the same (220V). Please refer to the seller clarification (copied from its Q n A):
“The item is for 220V , 60HZ , 2 pin plug from Korea.
It can be used in Singapore and don’t need a transformer.
But the plug cord type is 2 round pins.
So Buyers need to change a plug connector in Singapore.”
Thanks! I am getting 1 too!!
Could u tell me what extra plug u need so that I can use th le’quip waffle maker in sg. I am really keen to buy but worried I cannot use it.
Tks & God bless

Hi. Can i replace the oil with unsalted butter instead ? what would the quantity be ? thanks in advance.
I’m sorry, I’ve personally not use oil in my waffles before. You can google and see the conversion charts. Here’s one I found (but not tried before): https://www.portplums.com/blogs/recipes/122657731-olive-oil-waffles-too-good-to-be-true
