Apple & Mozzarella Toast

Apple & Mozzarella Toast

You can use any variety of apples for this recipe. Royal Gala has a milder taste, while Granny Smith has a more prominent apple flavour after cooking. You can use a mixture of apple varieties as well.

You can drizzle the honey on the bread before toasting (as this recipe) or drizzle it as a garnish after toasting.

Check out the ingredients and step-by-step photos on the previous page.

Ingredients:

  • 1 thick sliced bread
  • small knob of butter
  • 35g fresh mozzarella cheese torn to small pieces
  • 1 apple (e.g. Granny Smith) quartered & slice thinly
  • 1/8 tsp pumpkin spice mix or cinnamon powder to taste
  • 1 tsp honey to taste

Side salad (optional):

  • 1 serving salad mix
  • 1 tbsp granola
  • 1 tsp extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 tsp balsamic vinegar

Directions:

  1. Prepare the bread. Spread butter on one side of a piece of bread, and top the bread with fresh cheese. Arrange layered apple slices in the middle of the bread, pressing them down gently with your fingers for a few seconds so that they will stick well to the cheese. Sprinkle pumpkin spice blend and drizzle honey over the apples.
  2. Bake the bread. Air fryer (no need to preheat) at 180°C (356°F) for five minutes until the cheese is just melted. Alternatively, you can use the toaster oven, broiler or regular oven.

Air Fryer Notes:

  1. If the cheese is not melted, just leave the toast inside the air fryer for another minute, as the hot air inside the air fryer will continue to melt the cheese.
  2. If you are making a second toast immediately, bake the bread for only 4 minutes since the air fryer is already preheated.

  1. You made the boring toast so interesting and delicious!

  2. Wonderful idea! Now when I think of apples, I don’t just think of sweet apple pies but this savory apple toast instead.
