How to Cook Quinoa in a Rice Cooker

How to Cook Quinoa in a Rice Cooker

Use the ratio of 1 part raw quinoa to 2 parts water (or chicken/vegetable stock) when cooking quinoa.

Leftover cooked quinoa can be kept in the fridge for up to a week and reheated in the microwave oven (at 600W for about a minute or two).

Check out the step-by-step photos on the previous page.

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup (135 grams) raw quinoa
  • 1 1/2 cup (300 ml) water or (chicken/vegetable) stock

You also need:

  • rice cooker
  • rice paddle

Directions:

  1. Wash the quinoa. Measure and add 3/4 cup quinoa in rice cooker’s inner pot. Wash quinoa in 1-2 changes of water. Drain the water and return drained quinoa back to the rice cooker inner pot.
  2. Add water and cook. Measure and add 1 1/2 cup water or stock to the inner pot. Set rice cooker to ‘COOK’.
  3. When cooked, fluff up the quinoa with a rice paddle and it’s ready to be served.

  1. Perfectly fluffy! Good job :-)

  2. Is the quinoa from iherb cheaper than NTUC? I recalled seeing quinoa in NTUC before and the price is comparable, if not cheaper than online.

  3. Hi wiffy, which setting do you use on the rice cooker? Just regular rice setting?
