Mushroom Seasoning Powder

Mushroom seasoning powder is used to season a variety of foods such as stir-fries, fried rice or stews. You can also mix it with hot water to make an instant mushroom stock. I found this when I was googling for a vegetarian seasoning (in place of chicken seasoning powder) to use for cooking vegetarian dishes.

This mushroom seasoning turns out to be even more umami-delicious than the chicken seasoning powder I was using. It does not contain monosodium glutamate or MSG (though to me it tastes like MSG), so I have been sprinkling it as a finishing touch to many dishes as a ‘secret ingredient’ without guilt. There are other various brands of mushroom seasoning powder depending on your location. The popular one sold in the US is Vietnamese made and looks very similar in packaging to the one I got. I purchased mine at Sheng Siong supermarkets in Singapore.
