Red Cabbage Limeade

Red Cabbage Smoothie Recipe

The presence of foam is normal in this drink, as red cabbage contains high amount of insoluble fiber. Drink it as it is, or try one of the various tips to reduce the presence of foam.

If you have a high-powered blender such as a nutribullet, you can add 1/2 tsp flaxseeds and 1/2 tsp chia seeds for extra nutrition.

Ingredients:

  • 60g red cabbage leaves chopped roughly
  • juice of 2 small limes (or 2 tsp lemon juice) to taste
  • 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup to taste
  • 150ml cold pure coconut juice
  • 4 ice cubes

Creamy Version

The addition of avocado greatly eliminates the foam and provides natural creaminess.

  • 25g avocado flesh

Directions:

  1. I love the natural light purple colour from the red cabbage. A super healthy drink!

  2. I think I will be too lazy to skim off the foam, and I did not know the foam is there because of the presence of insoluble fiber.
