Apple Infused Tea

Since the beginning of the month, I have been starting every morning with a 30-minute run. After doing so for about 3 weeks, I can say that this has been the best transformation that has happened to me during this prolonged period of WFH! The morning exercise really helped me to start the day on a productive note and made me more conscious about the importance of self-care. I ran on my home elliptical machine (which was previously collecting dust for more than a year ever since I shifted house) with a trolley by my side where I always have a bottle of cold drink prepared the night before. This was how this apple infused tea come about, it is one of the drinks I had by my side to stay hydrate throughout and after the run.

Apple Infused Tea Recipe
I really love this apple infused tea because it had an added bonus of yummy apples which I can eat immediately after my exercise.

ONLY TWO MAIN INGREDIENTS

APPLE & TEA BAG

Apple Infused Tea Ingredients
The ingredients are very simple. One red apple (or use half red and half green like I do), one thinly sliced Thai lime (you may omit this if you don’t like the lime flavour in your apple tea) and a cold brew tea bag. This is a really simple and basic recipe which you can add on to if you like – such as sprig of mint, a cinnamon stick or any herbs.

Muji Organic Tea Apple (Cold Brew)
I used Muji’s organic tea apple & honey bush cold brew tea bag. You can actually just use any favourite cold brew tea bag (or even bottled tea).

Apple Infused Tea (Before Infusion)
In a half-litre glass bottle (I am using Ikea 365+ glass carafe), add the tea bag, apple and lime. Then fill the bottle to the brim with clean drinking water. Put the bottle in the fridge to chill until ready to enjoy.

Apple Infused Tea Recipe
This is my bottle of apple infused tea after 4 hours. After I took these pictures, I put the bottle into the fridge to chill and infuse for a few more hours. I usually make this just before I sleep to let it chill in the fridge overnight, so that I can enjoy this drink first thing in the morning during & after my workout.

The measurements used are indicative, just “eyeball” the amount of fruits and water needed for the jug you are using.

In place of the tea bag, you can also use bottled tea or just plain water.

Ingredients:

  • 1 red apple (or half red & half green) cut to wedges
  • 1 cold brew tea bag see note below
  • 1 small slice Thai lime optional
  • clean drinking water to fill the bottle about 300 ml

You also need

  • 500 ml glass carafe, jug, pitcher or bottle with lid

Directions:

Add tea bag, apple and lime (if using) to a 500ml glass bottle. Pour clean drinking water to the brim. Refrigerate for about 6 hours before drinking. The drink can also be chilled overnight to be enjoyed as a refreshing detox drink first thing in the morning.

Recipe Note(s):

  1. I’m using Muji’s organic apple & honeybush tea for cold water. It is designed for 500ml water, which is the capacity of the Ikea 365+ carafe I am using.
  2. You can add on to this basic recipe, such as a sprig of mint, a stevia leaf or a cinnamon stick.
