Strawberry Banana Smoothie

I really love this strawberry banana smoothie. The sweetness of banana complement the natural slight sourness of strawberry; when put together, they are a match made in smoothie heaven.  It’s one of the first smoothies I’ve made and I’m still making after all these years.

The smoothie is quite filling, in fact I usually can’t finish everything in one go. Instead of a greasy, sinful breakfast, it’s nice to have something clean like a smoothie to kick start the day once in a while.

It is also really easy to make – just a basic blender, with basic ingredients such as plain yoghurt, milk and fruits. Just blend for a few seconds until smooth. Sometimes I used frozen strawberries as a standby in the freezer so that I can make this drink frequently.

For best results, use ripe banana so that the drink will be sweet. If the drink is not sweet enough, you can add another banana, or honey/maple syrup (to taste).

Ingredients:

  • 1 ripe or over-ripe banana peeled and quartered
  • 150g strawberries hulled; if using frozen, thaw slightly before use
  • 100ml plain yoghurt may substitute with 75ml milk
  • 50ml fresh milk

Garnish (optional)

  • few slices banana
  • few slices strawberries

Directions:

Put all the ingredients in a blender. Blend for 1 minute or until smooth. Pour into serving glass and garnish with banana and strawberry slices.
