Taiwanese Fried Oysters

This recipe comes with a YouTube video (see next paragraph).

Taiwanese fried oysters (台灣蚵仔酥) is also known as salt and pepper oysters, popcorn oysters or basil fried oysters. It is a traditional and popular Taiwan street snack (台灣小吃). This is a simple recipe with only a few ingredients to recreate the dish. If you love oysters, you have to try this!

It is very easy to make, if you don’t mind deep-frying. The key ingredients are minimal and the seasonings are simple (just salt and white pepper). You can also experiment with bolder seasonings such as chilli (cayenne) powder, seaweed powder or garlic powder, though my personal favourite is still the good old salt & pepper.

Click on the video above to watch. This is my fourth video. Video making is intense and tough work (hence the slower updates for the past 2 weeks) … but very fun!~ Thanks for watching, give this video a thumbs up if you like it and please subscribe to my channel for future recipe updates. Thank you :)

  1. I never tried this in Taiwan. In fact, I never tried any oyster-related dishes e.g. Oyster Mee Sua, Fried Oysters in Taiwan, except for seafood porridge that sometimes has oysters.

    • The only oyster dish I did not enjoy in Taiwan is oyster omelette. Our local version is much better! But I heart most of their other oyster dishes such as oyster mee sua, fried oysters and seafood porridge!

  2. I had lots of fried oyster cakes when I was still a kid..it was a very popular street snack. These are not exactly the same, but quite similar, and I bet they are very delicious.

  3. I have never had oyster like this…and I like how it sound…and look…
Have a great week Wiffy :)
