This is a healthy and refreshing recipe for lemongrass and pandan herbal tea. It is detoxifying, cooling and aids digestion. My mum treated me to a spa session and they served a home-made lemongrass herbal tea after the massage. It was so good that I could not resist making the drink at home the very next day.

Lemongrass is a detoxifying ingredient so this is really beneficial especially after prolonged periods of over-indulging in food. It also aids digestion, combat heat, is a natural remedy for fever, anti-inflamatory & anti-cancer, among a host of other health benefits. If you can find pandan (screwpine pines) in your area, brew them with lemongrass for an unbeatable fragrance. Ginger is added for a slight spiced taste and to get rid of excess “wind” in the tummy.
If your kitchen stink for some reason (maybe after frying food such as belacan or lard), you can brew this tea to freshen up the air instantly and naturally. When I was brewing the tea, my kitchen is filled with the wonderful aroma of lemongrass, which happens to be my favourite aromatherapy scent!
Raw sugar made from sugarcane. I think I probably boil it too long after adding the sugar since the sugar doesn’t dissolve easily
Is the sugar light brown? I’m using rock sugar which is clear.
I also use clear rock sugar, since that’s the only kind available locally. Probably the lemongrass I used isn’t of good quality. My lemongrass is sort of brownish green n dirty, so I had to peel almost all the outer layers to expose the white core. N when I smashed the stalk, it released very pungent yellowish citronelle oil… If I also use pandan leaves, the chloropyll from the leaves leaches into the tea, giving it a murky brown colour when the tea boils
Haha i grow these 2 plants side by side in front of my house. They spread very fast and they are versatile too.
